Bunka is a traditional, 24 years old event concept where the theme of the evening and night is about frequently changing, short DJ and VJ sets. Bunka has no restrictions on genre or BPM, and (almost) anyone can sign up to play. For new DJs (後輩, kōhai), Bunka is a place to showcase their skills and for old ones (先輩, senpai) an opportunity to break out of their old habits and style. VJs (videoジョッキー, bideojokkii) also have the opportunity to show off.

Volunteering

The volunteering positions for the event (we call them nakkis) are published on our website. Once you are logged into your Entropy account, you can find them at the bottom of the Bunka event page marked as Nakkikone. You will get a free entry, some food and a beverage on top of that!

There are gonna be two stages full of sound (39 artists) - and don't forget to reserve some cash for our kiosk

Dub Techno

Originally from Kotka, but now Helsinki-based Tero Taxell found a way to express himself through techno culture. Former metal fan is grown to like techno's percussions, somewhat minimalism and it being timeless form of art which invents itself all the time. But as a dj story begins in 2007 with a first nervous gig. More gigs followed 2008 and thus began also learning of how to become a dj. Countless hours sitting in a bus travelling to the gigs, searching music, club organising and assuring oneself that this is what I wanna do, for a hobby at least.

2018 Tero and few friends started Teknopicnic, one of the most popular open air techno parties in Helsinki. First time was in Kallio Block Party and from that point Teknopicnic has drawn thousands of dancers and urban culture enthusiasts to celebrate music, summer and life in Dallapepuisto, Alppipuisto and other places and venues. People consider Teknopicnic as a vital part of Helsinki culture life.

In Bunka you will hear 30 minutes of dub techno.
